The tunnelers would have a high old time avoiding all the mustard gas, munitions and nuclear waste dumped there.
Wasn't that mainly off the north western part of Ireland? It was supposed to be dumped in a deep trough way out but the ship dumped the stuff nearer to save fuel thinking no one would get to know.

Well, no, they wouldn't. That's because they carefully explain that the best acceleration is found by changing down to get your engine near the power peak.
I've just checked back; you're the guy who got peak in-gear acceleration _above_ the peak torque, which makes no sense to me. I'd confused you with those who think that changing down to get to peak power won't help.

Tee hee. Did you just watch it on telly or something rather than read the books? They mentioned the coming-of-age type ceremony where they get to choose their names out of Great Uncle Bulgaria's atlas quite a few times in the books.

So optimism should be high.

There's little point in changing down if the lower gear puts the engine near the power peak as with most engines that's close to the maximum revs. So you won't be able to accelerate much before changing up.
