I thought it would be give way to the left if Australia drives on the left. France had (has?) priorite a droite.
I cannot see how it would work the other way round. If you (in Australia) had to give way to traffic from the right, how would that traffic get to your lane without first having to give way to traffic from its right? Would you have to assess the traffic coming in the other direction to know whether to give way to a vehicle joining the road?
