Robust marker pen for plastics

I might suggest using any old way to apply the paint but using a careful tissue wrapped scraper to remove it from all but the dimples.

And a tissue dipped in solvent to clean up any messes left over

To my surprise Humbrol enamels are still available.

Around £2.50 from Humbrol (plus postage). Around £5 from Amazon (free postage through Prime). However metallic gold was £1.89 on Amazon Prime so worth a punt.

Hopefully this will do.

In my mind I was visualising a pen style applicator, but stick with tradition, I guess.

Cocktail or match stick also works, possibly don't try and get the final result in one go.

I've found them useful for a couple of small jobs other than touching up the paint on a car.

Hard to remove with solvents. Needs paint remover to get it off.

Talc or chalk powder mixed with a small amount of epoxy resin.

That's what we've done with our Leisure Range a few years ago. A quick glance now confirms all 10 hobs/ovens/hotplates are off.

As an aside: I found white and black paint markers, originally bought for marking, a useful touch-up tool for paint...

Its like the old Unix man pages. Once you knew what command to look for, there was all the information.

But no help at all in trying to work out which arcane two or three letter command was the one you needed.

e.g. $ man made No manual entry for made

$make love $ make love make: *** No rule to make target 'love'. Stop.

Sill available in many real model shops but those are fairly rare with large areas of the country not having a close one, unusually we still have a family Ironmongers /DIY /Haberdashery store in the nearest small town who still stock some Humbrol. Its fair to say in recent times not all former users are as happy with it as they once were, production was moved back to the UK in recent times and some claimed there were quality issues , changes in formulae to reduce VOC content could also have a bearing on that. There also a lot of competition from other brands plus many users now prefer acrylic rather than enamel. Humbrol do an acrylic range and a while back reduced the size of their enamel range.

If you want something like a pen applicator style paint it might pay to look at what military or wargaming modellers use .
