redidential intruder alarm

I have an Accenta G3 control panel. During some alterations the Tamper and PA wires became severed and the alarm sounded. The panel entered "lockout" mode with the two LEDs permanently illuminated on the Keypads. I managed to silence the alarm and have repaired the cable but the Keypads are now ineffective. The users manual talks about "lockout" mode but gives no information as to how to correct it. Can anyone help? - MousePad

Was the alarm at one time a maintained system? If so, the installer/maintainer can/does hold the reset code (especially if you've got a monitored system/redcare) - or the means to determine the code.

Industry code of practice says they should supply this codeto you/disable this feature when you drop the contract.

On my old system it used some kind of algorithm - enter a key sequence to get a code displayed - tell the alarm company by phone - they then tell you a reset code based on this.

So you may need the manufacturers/an approved installers help.

The system was never a maintained one. I replaced the old panel with the Accenta a number of years ago myself by buying it "off the shelf" and installed it myself.

If it belongs to you, you should have the engineering code and installation instructions.

Dunno how old it is, but some older units revert to factory defaults when powered down including the back up battery. Codes are then usually simple ones like 1234 and 0000 etc.

Have you the installation manual ?

formatting link
default engineer code etc. is provided

Unless there is still a fault then an "engineer" reset to "factory condition" will solve it ???

Many thanks, Dave. I do have the Engineers Installation manual and have tried totally powering down. The keypads then became operable but as soon as I entered my security code "lockout" returned. That may have been my mistake when instead of using the engineers code I used my security code which returned it to "lockout" mode so I assumed that that was not the way forward. Maybe entering the engineers code will return all values to factory default - I hope so then I can just re-programme the whole setup. I'll try it as soon as I get the chance.

Thanks Peter. I have the Engineers Manual and have already tried totally powering down. The keypads then became operable but, idiot that I probably am, I then entered MY security code. That was probably the mistake I made since it then went back into "lockout" mode. - Many thanks, mousepad.
