Thanks - I think you're right and it's in non-volatile memory. The instructions are very poor.

I wouldn't be surprised if we get the same. We never use it anyway.

I now see the installer is still in business so I'll ask them for a service call quote - may as well give the house it's added value back.

When I replaced the battery in mine I also removed the mains power at the same time. On applying the power the alarm was completely reset along with a two tone beeping from the control unit, but no external alarm. Entering the engineering code stopped the beeping and allowed a set-up sequence.

You will need the instructions for your alarm to set it up. My original instructions were a translation from Chinese by someone who spoke no English :) I deciphered them when I first installed the alarm and condensed around a dozen A4 sheets down to a single page.

No, it would not set or reset with either the originally programmed or factory codes and would not enter engineering mode at all - so no steps could be missed. It just locked up totally and would not accept any key entries (wouldn't even beep on each key press).

Powering off and on again gave no improvement.

Hi It depends on the model run of the accenta8 you have but contrary to posts so far ADE default user code is 0123 not 1234 All models lock up with mains spike caused by flat backup battery as the psu can't cope with the added current. Depending on run power down mains & battery power up mains only and within 5 secs press reset twice panel should bleep twice and default;or power up battery only and panel will reset to default on earlier models.IIR the accenta 8+ would only house a 2.3ah battery whilst the metal boxed remote keypad version would accept up to a 7ah. If you post type ( remote keypad,metal box,plastic box with keypad.) I should be able to dig out the manual for you. HTH CJ

We had a short power cut today and the when the power came back up the alarm went off and could not be controlled, so I've taken out the fuse.

I understand that the fault lies with the back-up battery failing in the main Accenta unit - the system was installed in 1999 and the battery has not been serviced. It's quite a large lead-acid battery ­ I see they are on ebay for about £8.

I'll get another of the batteries - but the question is when I install and restore power is the code lost ­ and if so what's the procedure for getting it back to normal? Trying to figure it out with the alarm going is not easy...

Having checked the list of Accenta models the 8 is the "pig" of the litter. Reset is as follows:- disconnect power,battery & mains. Remove all wires from terminals 17 (PA) and 27 (set+) fit a link wire between these two terminals and connect power. system will power up with no alarm remove link and refit wiring. Keypad will show any open zones. when all zones clear and lid tamper clear panel will beep and go into day mode clearing NVR. User code 1 is now 0123 @ eng code is 9999

Hi CJ, would be very grateful for some help, I have disabled the alarm on m y system using your method removing wires from terminal 17 PA and 27 set an d putting the jumper wire in, which worked perfectly thankyou, the only pro blem is now I want to reactivate it, any ideas? thanks Jim

Changed sensor now no sensors are working

What kind of sensor? Magnetic switch, PIR etc.?

What was wrong with the old sensor?

When did you last replace the battery in the alarm control panel?

Got an accenta8 and it gone into Tampa mode and locked down keypads etc. Changed the battery with no effect. With the battery disvonnected and taking the fuse out the alarm goes off and the pads work. So looks like power is getting to the main board

But still nothing with battery and power?

Any ideas before I call an engineer.
