For Brian, it's a 9 branch candlestick, made from the innards of a gearbox. I've never tried welding, but there seems to be a bit of skill involved here.Another one here:

It looks good but wouldn't it be so much better if it actually moved or rotated with all those sexy gears :-)

2 candles too many otherwise it would have been a menora
5 candles less and it could have been a two ronnies sketch.
The Orthodox (sic) view is that a Hanukkah menorah has 9 - often with the central one higher as in that one.
Welded? or photoshopped?
Ingenious. Welded but not difficult welds. Or soft soldered for the non-ferrous bits at least. Wife is not keen on having one.

I've always thought gearbox innards could make something that looked good, but never knew what. I still don't. Bannisters?

Just enlarged the photo, certainly looks real. Hard to get a sense of scale though are those welding blobs of a 'can be neatened' size or would they be too wee/finiky to tidy up ?
Unless it's a really, really worn gearbox, those gears will be a bit sharp on the bannisters. Apart from hurting yourself, you'll be snagging your clothes.
then a (worth doing) use awaits.
