Has anyone used screwfix "Post Anchor Base" to secure raised decking posts?
They are much cheaper than the metpost type, 1.49 GBP compared to 4.50 GBP, but do they give as solid a result.
They're only designed to withstand a vertical load, so you'll have to make sure that some other part of the structure stops horizontal movement. I imagine that the posts will be less likely to rot using this sort of anchor.
