Hopefully someone will be able to offer some advice in response to this question: Google is unusually unhelpful.
I've spent the last few days reinstating a fireplace in my front room and constructing a surround. The wall needed replastering either side, with a small strip above the mantelpiece. You can see a photo here:
I've also seen that there are breathable emulsions available, but I can only find references to them being used over skimming -- not over a whole new layer of plaster. My plastering (Thistle Universal One Coat) is about an inch deep at its thickest. Can I use Dulux Supematt or similar? Will it fall off? Is the paint up to the same standards as normal emulsion?
Any advice would be much appreciated: how long should I wait?
Thanks,
Jen
