OT: UPS delivery

I had a package being delivered by UPS, and their tracking site saidthat it was due between 11:00 and 15:00 Tuesday. Today, Monday, I spentsome time doing chores, including working in the garden. When I satdown at the PC at about 6 pm, I had a message saying that UPS haddelivered my package, and it had been left by the front door. As ourfront door opens right onto the road, anything left there is a sittingtarget for any light-fingered passers by. Luckily, it was still outthere. Is there any obligation on UPS and others to ensure that theirdeliveries are actually received by somebody, especially when they gettheir own delivery date wrong? What happens if the package is not therewhen I go to retrieve it? Should they not deliver it to a neighbour? IfI had known it was coming today, I would have waited for it.

Where I have been in to receive the package and the delivery drivers have taken photos only a few have made sure that my face is in the picture and only one has walked back further down my pathway to include my house number, which is attached to the wall rather than my door.

All that RM is concerned about is having proof of delivery.
