He did describe the cap park as new. However, as you say, age is a factor, but many newly laid out car parks still use older guidelines. OTOH those that go for the top end of the recommendations (2.7m wide) are a joy to use.

Indeed, when you can fully open the car door to get in/out, get shopping in/out means you have no worry about neighbouring cars dinging you - I usually head to the less popular areas of car parks with narrow bays to avoid that risk.
