Not been there for well over 20 years but there are (were?) quite a few reservoirs behind substantial dams in southern Spain that had been bone dry for many years. It's happened in the UK in more recent times threatening water supplies and reducing hydro generation to significantly lower levels, fortunately during months of lower demand.
