I have to fit a new light fitting in my daughters bathroom. She has bought a light fitting suitable for bathrooms with an enclosed box containing the wiring connections for L,N and E. The existing rose has
3 wires (2 x circuit and switch) screwed into connections on a back plate into which the bulb holder wires also are attached. Could anyone advise whether the way to proceed is:
- Go into the loft and fit a junction box connecting all the wires with a single flex going down into the bathroom to which the new fitting is wired.
or 2. Remove the cover of the old rose but leave the backplate in which case the new fitting (approx 4" by 6") has enough depth to be fitted over the back plate and could be connected directly to it. This option would be less work and would not involve moving loads of stuff in the roof. Would it be acceptable?
Thanks for any advice
Pete.
