OT - PDF converter/editor

I have to send one sheet of a credit card statement to an insurance company. I can download the complete statement as a PDF but I don't want to send it all. Now, I'm sure that one program I've used (on PC or Android tablet) has an option to save a PDF as a Word file. However I can't find it at the moment.

Slow way is to print one page and then scan it. However I would like q quicker way in future.

There are some web based converters, but strangely I am reluctant to upload my credit card statement to a web site for conversion.

Any recommendations?

Thanks

Dave R

If you have something like Primo PDF "printer" you can probably just selectively print the page of the existing PDF, to a new one with that.

I use OpenOffice to open and edit .pdf files and re-save them as a .pdf Just need to install the PDF Import extension

You can delete, over right, add, modify and re-position text. And of course it's free. :)

has "Advanced PDF Utilities Free" which /may/ do what you want...

Failing all else, copy the screen image of the relevant page into the clipboard (Prt Scrn), then go into an image processor such as Photoshop, edit the image to remove unwanted stuff around the edge, and save/print it as a jpg file or whatever. Or just paste the image into Word, but then you get all the stuff around the edge.

Scribus can load PDFS (text, anyway) and Gimp can certainly open them as images which can be cut and saved for incorporation into word etc.

Both are free and run on linux and windows

That's what I was going to suggest. PrtScn needs the shift key of course.

You used to be able to crop in word.. Have they mangled that as well now?

will open pdfs (once you've got the add-ins in). Load the pdf, crop the relevant image, save it as JPG, and off to insurance company.

Not with my keyboard, it doesn't.

Dunno! If it's possible, I can't see how to do it. I have MS Office 2003 SP3.

would using the word option would leave the data cropped by word there, but a bit hidden?

I've used Libre Office to edit PDFs in the past, I assume it'll work in the same way as the Open Office + add-in that's suggested upstream

A lot of people don't seem to be aware that Alt+PrtSc will take a screen image of just the active window, which works a lot better if pasting directly into Word

The Snipping Tool of Windows 7 and later works very nicely giving options including contents if a window.

Word 2013 can open PDFs and allow editing and re-saving as a PDF. Whether that would work for you depends on the document and the requirements.

Ermmmmm ..... Select image in word, hold Ctrl key down (or was it Shift?), and 'handles'on extremities of image marquee (that one would resize with usually) change appearance to a 'square with added lines on':-) , click & drag these to crop image

I think :-) Jim K

+1.

I use Cutepdf virtual PDF printer for the same purpose.

Couldn't get that to work (or indeed any of the front-rank buttons on the keyboard). But right-click on the mouse brings up a little menu with picture editing tools, including a little squarey thing for cropping. Thanks (at least for setting me off to find it!)

Being careful to hit Cancel at the inviting offer to install Ask search by the installer.

(If Ask were worth having, rather than seeming to be some sort of malware, people would be downloading it by the terabyte. Rather than having to sneak it into other installers so that it arrives more or less by stealth - or at least ignorance.)

Apologies Chris, neither does mine, I just thought it did.

I usually maximise the window and use Alt+PrnScn otherwise I get the whole of my dual monitor extended desktop.
