OT access to uk.rec.gardening

I regularly read this news group but got this message today:

This group either doesn't exist, or you don't have permission to access it. If you're sure this group exists, contact the owner of the group and ask them to give you access.

Any ideas? I confess that I am using Google groups for access.

Sounds like the same treatment that google gave uk.telecom, after that group got invaded by credit card scammers ... using gmail

Have you switched to the recent "improved" google groups? I found it didn't work for sending messages, but using google groups is rare for me.

I have no problems with uk.rec.gardening - there is no-one to contact to give access as its an unmoderated Usenet group.

I just tried with the 'classic' and the 'new' google interfaces and they both let me read messages ... but I think the O/P would be better of with a real usenet client
