Brand new sink in a gents toilet at a pub that is supposed to open tomorrow.
Were they still waiting for you to get the lights on when they did that? ;-)
Cheers, T i m
No but I think the tiler might have been blind
as if I can fit a switched fused spur to that without attacking the top and right hand tiles with an angle grinder to make space for the FCU.
Looks like he applied the silicon, realised he'd left his fugenboy at home, came back half an hour later, noticed it had skinned over, so thought he might as well just leave it ...
I think he was in the toilet, had his knob out and used that!
Just hack away at it and get the silicone king to fill the gaps. The silicone has been artistically applied to compliment the wonderfully co-ordinated look of crap brown tiles & black top.
And why use white silicone?
I confess, my attempts at silicon beads sometimes are little better and end up being redone.
Two or three attempts are not unusual.
No - that's just standard... Usually it's plumbers who shove radiators in front of your sockets?
Unless his knob is full of warts, I think it would have done a better job!
At least it won't be used much.

He could at least have used clear sealant.
When I read the sub line considering the thread immediately before this on, I was saw the tempted to add in brackets, (As the Bishop said to the Actress) Brian
Looked at that and thought - that is a very shallow box. The wiring is red and black so probably quite old as well.
Anyway, I assume the tiler (who looks to have done a reasonable job) just tiled up to the back box because nobody told him/her anything different was required.
I wonder who did the acceptance checks before paying the workers.

Nope, I withdraw that.
Didn't want to cut more than one tile.

If they had used a blue basin surround, it would have conformed to EU harmonized colours.
He probably assumed that some people would only be using it as a urinal, so what the hell.
It looks like a Halfway done job, possibly by someone called Stan Ingley.

One of the joys of using tiles that are not flat so a face plate cannot fit on the tile surface without leaving a gap in the side.
The tiles appear to taper back towards the edges.
"Metro" style. SWMBO wanted to use them before I dissuaded her.
My "solution" (if I had to) would be to use 10mm socket extender collars and tile/grout upto the collar. Would still leave the socket sticking out, but other than silicone I cannot see another way.
