As per subject I would like recommendations for a small, lightweight hedge trimmer. It's for a boxwood type of hedge that is near the door so mains power is handy.
I've got a heavy weight trimmer but it is a bit of a monster especially for my wife. It's good if I have to cut back any wood but overkill for leafy growth.
So a nice easy to use and hopefully not expensive trimmer would be nice, can be corded if that helps with weight.
Recommendations pls.
I recently paid over £50 for a Bosch bush trimmer, 20cm blades. It does the job and the battery doesn't run out quickly.
A few days later I saw something similar in Lidl for £29 (if I remember correctly).

I think you'll find that price was for the trimmer only - without the battery and charger.
They also do/did and mains corded version at the same price. I purchased one.
My Bosch trimmer was over 10 years old and it was somewhat abused trying to cut branches that were too thick. I very much doubt if the Lidl one has the same performance when it comes to such abuse but it is about 50% lighter than the Bosch corded hedge cutter that is replaced. The lighter weight does make the hedge cutting I do a lot easier. I really hacked the hedge back a few years ago because it became too large and I now only have to give it a light haircut of new thin growth every few months during the growing season.
I did borrow a hedge trimmer with a shorter blade and that was a PITA to get a neat cut.
The hedge that I cut is around 4ft high and the width just around 1.5x the length of the blade.
I tend to leave mine until the end of the nesting season.

The hedge I cut is too small for nesting birds and there are too many cats around that would make them easy prey.
I wish my new neighbour had waited until the end of nesting season before removing some tall conifers and permanently scaring off the Jays that had made them their home.
