Assuming that your chainsaw is not locked in the garage and the key locked in the house :)

I recently lost our garage keys. To get in I had to go and borrow an angle grinder to cut off the padlock on the main door. That gave me access to my own tools and I could drill out the lock on the personnel door.

That was no ordinary chainsaw blade if it was cutting metal!

For better or worse, I can open my garage with my phone (it triggers a Wi-Fi relay that works the electric door mechanism.). Saves me having to remember to carry the remote or go into the house to get the remote.

I can do the same with our front door. It requires 2FA. I wrote the software and built the little hardware there is.

You going to market it?

No. It's trivial. But requires a UNIX box too. I just piggyback on the PBX.

My PBX actually has multiple functions, so it runs on a 12 year old microserver. Inputs are via an Arduino nano in a box, and outputs to a relay board. It also logs the doorbell, etc. Interface in both cases is simple USB.

Hope there is a manual key option as well for when there is a powercut etc.

Not for the garage door from the outside. There is a back door into our garage though and there’s a manual release.

One episone of 24 Hours in Police Custody they used a circular saw or an angle grinder to open a door.

I used an angle grinder to cut through the tongue of a high security mortise lock at MIL's home. It was an outward opening door, so quite easy to do without significantly damaging the door or surround.

The tongue had two hardened rollers that are supposed to rotate, so as to resist a hacksaw. But the angle grinder cut through in 30 seconds.

But was it a battery/electric or petrol Stihl ?

did the neighbours notice? When we were burgled, some 40 years ago, the neighbour heard breaking glass and splintering wood and decided I was cutting down a tree. This was in the middle of a working day afternoon!

Nobody showed any interest.
