I think it's some sort of pipe clip crimping tool but I no longer seem to have the matching clips. Does anyone recognise it?

You could be right, for 10mm pipe, of which I have quite a lot on the boat where I found the tool. I don't remember ever buying it though.

Ex-MOT tester neighbour uses normal pincer-type 'pliers' without that semi-circle cutout in the middle to clamp down CV boot joint clips.

But this tool only closes the crimp up the clip to the correct amount it also cuts the clips off.

Ah! Yes, that's it. ... and I do have the matching clips, I just hadn't worked out how to apply the tool the the clips!

Thank you! :-)

I've just remmebered that we (or more accurately, the wiremen) used such a weapon when fixing clamps to hold the screen of co-ax onto MUSA connectors.

1960/70s.

Oetiker clip tool.

I used to use one a lot plus the clips when installing soft drink equipment.

For giving kids a clip 'round the ear I suppose.

Is that 'cos his dad was a tool maker?
