How to loosen plastic plumbing connection

It is in an awkward spot under the floor, waste pipe for shower to the underside of the tray. It is the knurled `nut` about 7 cms in diameter. I just dont havent the strength to loosen it, I have one of those rubber strip thingies but I cant get proper access to use it as I need to work one handed so cant wrap the rubber strip around it.

What would be the best tool for the job?

Try with rubber gloves? Proper thick marigolds. I have some manner of arthritis-type thing in my thumb joints, and it's what works for me.

I reckon if I could get access with both hands I would be able to undo it but can only access with left hand and I am right handed.

I`ll give the gloves a go.

Assuming you want to separate the joint: cut through the knurled ring (dremel, saw, etc) and replace the joint with a new one when it all goes back together.

Eventually got it loose, managed to grip (of sorts) with a woodwork clamp and then came loose by hand, With only a couple of bruised knuckles.

Job done
