Think you'll find plenty stories out there of privately rented properties being destroyed by tenants. And not on housing benefit either.

Odd isn't it? You'd have thought a decent right winger would have wanted anyone capable of buying their council house chucked out of it - for being a scrounger. If they can afford to buy, why subsidise their rent? As was the case then.

Any private sector landlord, if they had to rent to the problem tenants for some reason, would have figured that out & done it decades ago. Council es tates would then be reasonable places.

Ghetto houses could feature cast concrete with no unnecessary fittings like kitchen cabinets, nonessential woodwork etc. Internal walls would all be c oncrete. Toilets would be prison style. Tenants could buy their own beds & furniture. You might even have concrete beds on the ground floor. Outdoors they'd get just a very small yard. The housing could all be terraced with t hick heavy walls.

It couldn't have been much of a subsidy on the one my in-laws lived in. The mortgage would have been half the rent but they couldn't get a mortgage on it due to the type of construction. That was before mortgage rates dropped to single figures.

They tend to get evicted and moved on somewhat quicker than council tenants.

Certainly whiter than some of the locals who declared "taps aff" at the weekend.
