I need to take my mother to see some gas fires.
Are there any actual showrooms (with lots of fires!) in central Hampshire (based in Winchester)?

You need a newsgroup for that? Come on - use a bit of common sense and your web browser. Next you will be asking what to wear on the day, how to get to the shop, which fire is best, which is most efficient and how to install it.
I get SO sick of people that act helpless, schools have a lot to answer for in the past 10 years or so - the amount of children that can't do things for themselves and need to ask everyone else. Now we see them in the workplace! They spend hours asking people for phone numbers when they are sitting infront of a PC with full internet access. I refuse to believe people are genuinely thick like you are making out you are.
Is Lee on the Solent too far?
It might make a pleasant day out for your mother:
I have used my web browser. I have found several companies that sell gas fires in central Hampshire. None of their sites actually gave any useful indication of whether they were worth visting to see real fires. (Maybe I have missed something - always possible.)
I know many companies have websites that do not accurately represent them very well - either they claim the largest selection of fires in the south east and have a couple round the back, or have a hundred but don't tell anyone.
Of course, I can (and probably will) ring some of them up tomorrow. But I was hoping to be able to make at least a tentative arrangement this evening.
Just wondering what schools over the last 10 years or so have to answer for in my case?
I found that - but was unsure if they really had many gas fires. Have you actually been there?

Dunno, but if she's a bit infirm, make sure you get one with a remote control
I have only just realised that such things exist! Not infirm, but definitely a bit on the getting-on/creaky side. :-)
Thanks for that.
No, I haven't. But the reason I chose this one over the 5 or 6 others whose web sites I looked at, but didn't mention, was the photograph which shows a large showroom specialising in fires and fireplaces.
Perhaps I should leave you to do your own searching in future.
Sorry if that sounded ungrateful (which it must have done) - it was not intended. I did appreciate the link.
