Fuel cost: How to save petrol and diesel

So many people fall for that. What little (russian) research there is on car emissions shows most of the nasty emissions come from tyres, not engines. Electric car emissions are worse than diesel cars.

Worse , in what way?

When my (self charging) hybrid is in pure electric mode there are no engine emissions . So how can no emissions at all be worse than the penc(ROT 13) a diesel kicks out?

I'm not particularly interested in EVs yet, but the general understanding I pick up says tyre wear is increased, and they're special "EV" tyres which cost more too.

The “general understanding” is generally anti-EV propaganda.

There are special EV tyres but tyre companies are always looking for ways to make more money. It is their job after all. As long as the size and load rating are okay, you can fit pretty much any tyre.

Special EV tyres tend to have extra sound deadening foam as road noise can be more noticeable due to the lack of engine noise.

My Yaris hybrid weighs about 4% more than a "standard" ICE model, not a huge difference I think you will agree driving style affects tyre wear more than that

You do not HAVE to fit them, personally I think they are a bit of a solution looking for a problem

Oh you'd be surprised, with both an ICE engine and (using kick-down) an electric motor supplying motive power. it can be driven away from lights like a stabbed rat.
