The first £20-00 box I got was perfectly OK. I'm going to put t in line and see how that goes.

It's often the audio that leads the video - far more annoying since it can't happen in real life.

A better FreeView box should help. Try Ebay for a secondhand Sony VTX-D800U - I don't think it is available new anymore. One of the better tuners made.

Makes me wonder how good the Freeview tuners are when they are built into TVs

Yes, they're often recommended. But I think they may not have survived one of the big re-tune events - eg may now be obsolete....?

Mine is ok in the London area.

LCD screens all delay the video relative to the picture. Plasmas and DLP even more. Better makes adjust the audio back into sync. Some don't bother.

I've noticed that if you have two FreeView tuners - not sets - on at the same time so you can hear them both, the sound is likely out of sync between them. Dunno if the picture is too.
