I'd have gone with vertical posts and skewed rails, that seems to be a bit of a mish-mash.

He made a pigs ear of everything.
Driveway, fence, chicken coup, money laundering, kids (I met his eldest the other week whilst working at Lindholme prison)
Now my suggestion is that he turns up at your place when you fit the fence and you do the opposite of everything he suggests.
That would guarantee a perfect job.
