I haven’t read the FB report, but from the few quotes from it that I’ve seen, there appears to have been some very careful form of words used.

Yes, the Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service were very careful with their words:

"The vehicle involved was diesel-powered – it was not a mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid or electric vehicle."

They specifically stated it's not a BEV, not a PHEV, not a MHEV.

You can’t argue with a conspiracy theorist. Save your breath/fingers.

It's amazing how some conspiracy theorists simple can't accept facts. They seem to think the more they lies they tell, the more others will believe them.

In reality they shown themselves as idiots lacking any form of foresight. It also discredits those rare occasions when they might utter something useful.

I'm not commenting on this particular theme, not on any posters, but in such a case there is often more than a hint of

"I'm quite happy to 'bend the truth' to make my point - so it's certain that the other side of the argument is telling lies wholesale."

The Post Office specifically stated that Horizon had no bugs, and specifically stated that individual SPO terminals couldn’t be remotely altered.

The haemophiliac blood supplies specifically didn’t contain HIV or Hep C, either.

The 50 incidents of rape gangs in the Northern towns were specifically stated individually to be ‘isolated’.

Iraq was specifically mentioned as having WMD.

It's in the self-interest of PO management to circle the wagons if they made a bad decision; In way does it benefit Beds Fire to protect Land Rover if it *was* some sort of EV?

Perhaps there are wider implications here. Who benefits, beyond LR, from this being declared a non-EV fire? The EV industry, perhaps? Does the EV industry have friends in high places? How many EV fires have there been, and how many have you heard about?

Who benefitted, or thought they were going to benefit, from declaring that Iraqis had WMD, when they didn’t and there was insufficient Intel to say that they had? So why try to silence those who were trying to put this view forward, by means of a dodgy report of 45 minutes to doom?

Cui bono, etc.

May well that be true but the likelyhood is that other vehicles impacted by the fire, however that arose, had lithium batteries and the whole infrastructure and support are not designed to cope with such fires.

Quite why the Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue service did not come out with a clear "the vehicle did not contain any lithium battery" is the source of conspiracy theories (based on facts currently known) and one is left wondering about "the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth".

Then a hospital gets criticism for disallowing EVs in one car park (on the advice of the fire service) until they get sprinklers upgraded ...

Sadly, this is all true.

The media and the government have all shown themselves to be quite capable of deliberate lies and cover ups when they decided to.

The tendency is towards Putin's Russia, EU style, not a New Enlightenment.

And in such an environment, conspiracy theories flourish.

Conspiracy theorists are simply copying what the government taught them. WMD in Iraq was a conspiracy theory. Global warming is rapidly being understood to be the same. The EU is another one. All these are well publicised establishment narratives that are being or have been shown to be fatally flawed.

MCarthyism was supposed to be a conspiracy theory, and yet Putin appears to own a large part of the USA political and commercial hegemony. As well as the radical activist groups in the West.

The greatest peddler of conspiracy theories is in fact the so called 'Establishment'

Its not Beds fire who are being protected. Its a whole industry devoted to forcing us to replace our perfectly good vehicles. All for the 'good of the planet' of course, and so perfectly *justifiable*.

Beds fire just got leant on, most likely.

As per usual when faced with innovation, the bureaucrats are simply incapable of reacting appropriately.
