Recently, a 'Favourites' icon has appeared on my desktop. I don't want it. I never use it. It's presence annoys me.
While I can delete it temporarily, when I switch the computer off and back on again, it reappears. how do I get rid of it for good?

What operating system?
Sorry, should have said. Win 10
Bugger. I got rid of that in Linux Mint...by editing a config file...but win 10?
Who knows?
It is years since I played with Windows but I would think :
Right clip on the desk top.
Select customise desktop ( or similar)
Look for option - probably a tick in a box for display on desktop.
If you right click on it and select "Properties" you will get a dialog with some information it it that may enable you to track down why it's there.
You did, in the header :-)
Ah, yes. I thought I'd tried all that sort of thing, but trying it again as per your suggestion and deleting it seems to have got rid of it permanently. Thanks.
