Having tried both methods[1], I find piercing the foil with a thumbnail to be a good deal easier.

If you think about it, the foil has to be pierced, no matter which method you use. That foil is far more susceptible to a sharp-edged nail than a blunt instrument like a tablet or capsule - where much more force has to be applied.

Of course. My system is to eject the pill directly into the 7 day pill dispenser.

Two. They don't project beyond the ends of my thumbs though.
