No it didn't, unless you were living in some other country that used PAL-D/K/L. It's reminding you this is a UK newsgroup, and the UK used PAL-I.
No. 500 pixels would be short of 4MHz. PAL-I as used in the UK had a video demodulated bandwidth of 5.5MHz.
You seem to propagate a huge amount of misinformation. No wonder you're also a climate denier.
And there is also terrestrial digital TV.
While it is a UK newsgroup the topic was 819 line TV from France. got there from French Engineering. and it could be recieved in the UK - probably on a DIY basis.
NT mentioned line rates of 16kHz which implies 625line / 50Hz. I believe he was making a comment to the paragraph starting, "In theory, 625 line PAL TV .....".
If NT was referring to the French SECAM-L NT would have been right SECAM-L has the sound carrier 6.5MHz above the vision carrier, so the likely video bandwidth would be 6MHz. There's very little info on SECAM as used by the French. It is/was an awful system.
Sadly they used positive video modulation, god knows why as it's very sensitive to impulse noise.
one of the major points about SECAM was that it ws cheap for the broadcaster to implement.
