Builder for Small (ish) job - Hull Area

Mar 21, 2005 3 Replies

Not totally on Topic but:

Can anyone recommend decent builder in Hull area for refurbish and re-roof of flat roof extension? Some bricking up, 2 replacement windows, construct dual-pitch roof and add gully. (The DIY bit is I'm doing most internal bits!) Is this job too small to attract any decent builder? I have had 2 builders come round and look, but no quotes forthcoming.

TIA

Phil

We recently had a good job done by Simon Whitfield Construction; they are in the Hull yellow pages under Builders.

(We also had a lot of difficulty getting someone to quote)

Thanks Tim

What was the scope of work done for you? Did it include roof work/windows/drains? How long lead time between quotation to start? Did they stick at the job, or come and go?

Finally what area of Hull or surrounding are you? Just out of interest!

Thanks

Phil

It was some brickwork at my business unit on Sutton Fields, cutting door and window apertures and fitting lintels / soldier brick courses. No roofs or drains involved but they say they do that sort of thing also. They started a week after quoting, but could have been a quiet time. Took 4 days continuous. Good neat job (turned out a lot harder than they expected because the walls are made of v. hard concrete blocks, they look like celcon until you try to drill them)
