British Standards

Do you think we will return to British Standards and Codes of Practice soon? .....

I very much doubt it, most products are designed for as large a market as possible so I'll expect to still be designing for CE, FCC, UL, CSA, CCC etc.

About as long as it takes Happy Golden Hedgehog Labels to print of 10,000,000 fake Kitmark stickers.

No as if we want to sell to the rest of the world our standards must be generally in agreement with those elsewhere. I used to be in QA, and selling to Arab states, the US SE Asia and the EU and there was a revolution in standards parity during the 80s and 990s in order to create world standards. Of course there will always be regional variations to some extent but a lot of it is common sense.

However, most of the problems seem to take place in ones own country with safe working practices, which are always being flouted and in each country the degree of this depends on enforcement and in some countries the degree of bribery and corruption which is innate. Brian
