[SOLVED] British Gas Wireless Thermostat Solved

Hey group, 1st post here.Found this message that Peter (see below) posted back in 2001 andwanted to say a big thank you.Not sure if you will see this Peter, but just like to say thanks verymuch for your post.The batteries died on my wireless thermostat and there were noinstructions or manuals from the previous owner of the property.My system is labelled "British Gas WR1 Wireless System" which is thesensor by the boiler and the thermostat is labelled "British Gas RC1Wireless System"I came home last night at 00:30 and found the display had died andafter spending 15mins working out how to replace the batteries l thenspent till 2am browsing the web to find out how you get the two unitsto talk to one another. Random button pressing was not working!!!My search proved in vain as l could not come up with any posts to dowith RC1 or WR1. I went to bed with an extra duvet at that point.At 7am this morning l just searched for "wireless system" AND "britishgas" and your post came up.Once again thanks it has been a life saver. Nonsense - that is a completely unrelated product to the WR1 wireless stat. To get that to pair with its receiver, follow the guide here:

Are there any other thermostats that are compatible with the British Gas WR1 receiver? I’ve purchased 2 Drayton thermostats thinking they were just rebadged as British Gas ones, but they’re not communicating with the receiver. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The pairing process is notoriously "obscure"!

To see if they can be made to talk. (the suggestion there is that they are rebadged Draton digistats)

Yes I’ve tried the above but with no joy. My next option is to buy a new receiver and thermostat kit, any recommendations for a cheap/relatable pair?

I quite liked the Hortsmann Centaurstat when I used them last - but that was many years ago so they may or may not still be good.

Hi, we have the same issue, thermostat screen is blank, receiver is working ok. Can I just get a new thermostat or do I need a new receiver as well?
