Bosch washing machines?

My approach is to study the features, specification and just buy what I like. Accept that washing machines are quite cheap and consider it to be a disposable item. My Indesit is doing fine after about 12 years! Brand name badges are largely meaningless. A new design by a quality maker could have a dog of a controller, etc.

Read it somewhere...

Or one for those who like to buy breakdown insurance and one for those who will pay for a decent reliable machine.

Our Indesit's about 8 years old now. No problems. I've always found them pretty long lasting. Only our 3rd or 4th machine in about 40 years.

Strange how car manufactures these days can offer substantial warranties yet white goods are still stuck at one or two years.

All this talk about warranties and extended warranties. The last washing ma chine we got that wasn't a Miele was a Hoover.While under warranty it had p ractically every component replaced, drum, motor, controller etc.etc. and i t managed to flood the utility room at least once. Didn't cost a penny to r epair but the grief was more than we could bear. Especially with a new bab y in the house.

So my advice would be forget about warranties etc. Select on reliability.

All this reminds of Ford warranties. Book your car in for a service. Tell t hem about your complaint. Collect the car and be told all was cushtie. But it never was. I'm convinced they worked on the principle of just wearing th eir customers down. How many times could you be bothered to book it in for another day.

Haven't driven a Ford in many years. Last one was a brand new Transit. The blue main beam tell tale didn't work from the off. Leaving it in for its fi rst service asked them to fix it. Collected van to be found they were charg ing for the bulb and the labour. 'Bulbs not covered by warranty sir.' Told them to stuff it and refused to pay. (In all my years of driving I have nev er had to replace a blue main beam tell tale)

Bloody van would never start on a cold morning. In sheer frustration I phon ed their head office. 'We'll look into it sir' Return phone call 5 minutes later. 'Sorry we can't help as there is an unpaid bill.' and they hung up.

Transpired half the bloody glow plugs weren't working either.

And they wonder why their market share was decimated .

They used to have the most arrogant staff.

Our Bosch w/m is 14+ years old and has had heavy use for its whole life. I had to replace the door rubber twice and the motor brushes. I don't recall anything else major went wrong. It now leaks slightly around the soap drawer and ICBA to fix it.

I think you would have a strong case to gave the retailer pay for such a repair.

No. It was definitely a solid fact I saw somewhere and I filed it away in my mushy stuff. Sadly I don't file references so well!

My W2860 Maxx arrived and instructions recommended a dummy run before use. Everything seemed OK so I opened the door and Whoosh ! Util Room flooded. I know I should have checked!! Engineer said the level sensor had been installed the wrong way round. I tried to claim for water damage but Bosch said blx. Its been OK for 10 years since. The Elephants Earhole is a bit soiled.

Mine is probably slightly newer. Never needed anything replacing but its usage is probably lighter than most. It has recently started leaking from around the soap drawer when certain items are being washed - I took the top off to investigate but couldn't identify the source.

How do you know that's not just for the lining on the top edge of the door?

Not really. There's nothing impressionable in reading a label of that kind on a leading brand product and expecting it to be reliable.

They'd do it to commit fraud and in all likelihood lose a bunch of good will.

What makes you think Bosch do this type of thing?
