To my mind jigsaws and sabre saws are different animals. Horses for courses I suppose, I am a huge fan of cordless, but I have a decent mains bosch jigsaw and a mains silverline or similar sabre saw. I did once need to deploy the latter "off site" using a cheapo 850 watt two stroke genny and it was OK.
