Bosch drill keyless chuck

Jul 10, 2025 Last reply: 1 year ago 4 Replies

My aged Bosch PBS 700 RES drill doesn't get much use these days, but whenever I have to tighten the chuck, the pressure required, on the button that stops it rotating, is more than I can easily provide.

I never had great grip strength, and time is not helping matters.

Any bright ideas?

Chris

Buy a grip strengthener? £2 on temu.

Replace the chuck with a keyed one and use a rubber holder to attach it to the drill, so that you always have it on hand?

Swap the chuck for a two handed one that does not require a spindle lock to tighten (you grasp the inner and out rings with both hands and counter tighten)

I don't know what the button is like, but using something a small piece of wood between your finger and the button to increase the area you are pressing on might help.
