freeing bit stuck in keyless chuck

Aug 05, 2004 2 Replies

Hi, So is there a trick to doing this? Drill is a black and decker. Chuck has two plastic 'sleeves', one rigid to hold chuck from rotating and the second to tighten jaws of chuck. Second now seems to have lost its 'grip' on whatever is inside the sleeve. I need to get the bit out so that I can get at the screw to remove and replace chuck. Drill has had very little use but is out of warranty? Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Regards, Nick

put a pair of grips on the rotating part and operate the drill in reverse

If you had a strong vice to put the bit in, then operate the drill and pull upwards as hard as you can. All depends how the hard you did up the chuck of coures!
