BC to ES adapter

It would be usual practice to connect the PSU to the ring via a fuse and isolating switch anyway, for servicing purpose and possibly to protect the wring to the actual PSU. Any reputable PSU would have some internal over-current protection, not necessarily a user replaceable fuse though.

Come back when you have something sensible to say.

Thought it was a 13 amp socket with built in USB 5v outlets being discussed? And yes, I'd expect it to have some form of internal fusing - perhaps a thermal fuse like fitted to motor and transformer windings.

Still waiting for you to explain how you'd fit:-

A 1.5" square can carry 4 low voltage outlets comfortably at less cost than a single mains socket. Or a 1" strip as high as mains sockets.

in the usual flush way.

The thing being I've over the years made up many special outlets for AV etc and know what is easy to do. To make them look as good as possible in a domestic setting.

Each and every post of yours say to me it's not something you've done.

So you're saying that it's not a workable plan because you can't think how to make the outlet pretty? Hopefully you've seen plenty of outlets modern & historic, mass produced and hand drilled. So you know quite well what the options & issues are, and can make your choice however you like. I can't se e any point in pinning it to one outlet design.

FWLIW I was thinking of using barrel connectors. Whether you pick or design the box to blend in with mains sockets or be its own thing appearance-wise is somewhat immaterial.

I designed & made electronics for years. I think you're fond of playing gue sses.

Yes. And in a domestic setting all the same sizes based on standard socket sizes.

Then I'll try again. Are you also going to make up the special sized backing boxes required too?

I'll try again. How are you going to mount those barrel connectors? Just have then on the end of a cable hanging out of the wall?

This is more domestic electrics than electronics. As I think you'd know if you'd ever made a custom design. These days you can buy ready made outlets with a variety of connectors (like say for AV) but they all still conform to the conventional socket sizes.

in that case there's a lot of outlets you've not seen.

How pointless.

Still waiting to hear how you flush mount them in a wall, etc, then?

If you are happy with surface mount stuff fairy nuff. But if so why not just say so?

It's also the shortest one I've seen (i.e. least extra length added to the lamp), so less likely than some others to make the lamp too long to fit.
