Banner

Local martial arts centre has taken to using giant banners (10m x 1m) to advertise. I get paid to put them up & then take them down a month later when the offer changes.

is the second one they have used, & most of the eyelets in the new banner matched the holes & plugs I used to secure the first one. I did have to redrill & plug three positions because the eyelets aren't spaced with a great deal of accuracy.

I'm wondering if it would be better to install four big & sturdy eye bolts & use nylon rope through the eyelets in the banner, certainly easier on a windy day!

Question is, how to tension the rope so the banner hangs nice & straight?

Any thoughts?

How about using the eye-bolts to install a permanant wire or rope - and then 'clip' the banner to it using heavy-duty cable ties ? (Kind of a shower-curtain idea ?)

Top and bottom fixed catenary wires - tensioned with a turn-buckle / strainer, and some form of sacrificial tie to join banner to the wires.:

Don't make it too obvious, or easy, otherwise any bugger could quote for the job using your fixings. Make it clear that the eye bolts and wire/rope remain your property at all times.

Or for even more of a faked-up Japanesiness, make a "noren" type banner. Tab top edge to the banner itself rather than cable ties and it slides over the wire from one end. The wire is tensioned with with a spring / turnbuckle and a small padlock.

Probably not the best idea for a really long banner like this, but it's good across doorways.

Did they ask you to chop your prices?
