I am trying to re-cell a battery pack. The tagged cells are rechargeable NIMH but rectangular not round.
Approx dimensions 46 x 16 x 6 mm (1 7/8 x 5/8 x 1/4 inches).
I've googled a fair bit and find plenty of round cells but none that are rectangular.
Any suggestions please.

Look up a company by the name of Strikalite (or similar), even if not listed, email them and they may be able to help.
try searching for "prismatic cells" if you have not already done so.
eg
If the current draw isn't too large you can "tag" standard cells with conductive glue eg
Use round tagged cells to the correct voltage, but use higher capacity ones to compensate for the wasted volume?
