Amazon don't want my business

I just tried to log on, and was told to enter the code sent to my WhatsApp account. I don't have a WhatsApp account and don't want one. I then noticed the "or" below the WhatsApp "code entry box", which offered an alternative where an SMS could be sent to my phone.

Unfortunately, when I clicked on the "verify with SMS", I got "You have requested too many OTPs today. Please try again later."

I've tried a couple of times several hours later and still get the same message.

I looked at the help for "I am unable to pass the Two-Step Verification process", and it has this PoS:

"To regain access to your account, you’ll need to verify your identity by providing a scan or photo of a government-issued identity document. To protect your account, we’re unable to make changes to your Two-Step Verification settings until your identity is successfully verified. If you’re able to sign in to your account, you’ll have access to make changes to your account."

No chance of me doing that, so if I can't log on tomorrow morning, it'll be "Goodbye, Amazon".

Looks like it's a known issue which really can't be resolved other than by the nonsense above to regain access, or perhaps requesting a new password.

I noticed that for the first time today too, likewise I don't/won't have a WhatsApp account, but they did send the code by email at the same time ...

This is difficult to believe. Not you, but that the idiot that set this up cannot see that when this information ('it won't be stored') is stored and then stolen, it will be used for fraud.

"Oh, our security is perfect, it won't get stolen".

Yeah, right.

I declined to take up an AirBnB booking over this a couple of years ago.
