My weep holes were all cut in a wide recess of the profile, a single hole looks more likely to block up than a slot. Those french doors are outward opening so the frame is reversed compared to normal, the wide recess would be on the wrong side to be used, I suppose.

Another no show from the fitter today, no phone call either as usual.

I had a chat with the helpful staff at Selecta who are to send a technical bod out.

Sounds like he used window profiles for the door which are not suitable for the job, hence the gap and keep according to Selecta.

Yep! Said that in post #12. I think if you do not correct it by using a pro per door frame you may have a long term problem of water ingress and draugh ts as the seal is designed to be permanently tight against a pane of glass and not subject to the dynamic forces of a door opening and closing against it. It's a bodge I am sorry to say and the guy who has done it should be s ued for leaving you like that.

Yes I think somebody suggested that earlier, my windows & doors are all Selecta, the door and window frames look the same, but my doors aren't composite just double glazed, ISTR I would have had to have separate door+frame and sidepanel with a composite door - giving a very wide mullion ...

Marvellous, the profile manufacturer Selecta has asked the permission of the fitter if they may attend site, he has refused. They claim the warranty from the fitter will void if they visit without permission.

Judging from your complaints regarding your fitter not responding to calls, I suggest any warranty you have from him is probably not worth the paper i t's written on. I would get Selecta to visit the site produce a report you can then use this as ammunition in any legal proceedings.

I was wondering how things were proceeding ...

I don't see how you inviting Selecta to attend your property can have any bearing on the contract between you and the fitter.

I tend to agree with Tricky, that you should take the offer of a report from Selecta if they're offering one now ...

They are refusing to attend due to the warranty issue so no report. I suspect he has threatened to take his business else ware as he manufactures to the trade. They did tell me, off the record, he has used a window profile not designed for a 44mm door. The door is not one of theirs and they have no record of a purchase of one either.

I am trying to think of some way to gain their attention, perhaps suggesting they may be liable should their frame fail as no reinforcement has been used on the door frames in the event of a break in. Also highlighting the failings of their badly installed profiles and effect on their image.

I noticed the reply I received late this afternoon had the general manager and two other bods copied in, some things gone on.

They only use reinforcing bars above certain frame sizes, and e.g. for bow windows.
