when you rough in tub/shower valve; cover the drain hole by putting the plastic wraper the drain screen comes in over hole then screw the screen down over it to hold it in place. This way the rockers dont fill drain with their dust etc..
Another use of the vacum cleaner besides sucking glue into pvc leaks is to hold oil in oil tank while you replace the fire-o-matic valve / filter can.
Can explain the vacuum cleaner trick to me? How do you suck the glue into the joint unless you put the vacuum hose into the pipe?

plug every hole except one sink or other 1 1/2 drain. put the hose in there.
you can use a fernco or duct tape to seal it. turn on vacum and there you go. You will hear the vacum change pitch when a vacum is established. now apply primer and glue. you will see it get sucked in.
