Diverter Issue (I think)

I have a 3 handle shower configuration. Hot, Cold and the Diverter knob. I had a drip in the spout. So I replaced the hot water stem assembly and bye bye drip. But now I have a water pressure issue. The bath runs fine. But when I divert to the shower most of the hot water now comes out of the spout making the shower water pressure very low now. I have no clue what kind of faucet it is but the stem i needed was a Union Gopher 7E-1. So I thiough it was the stem so I put the old one back in to see what happens but the pressure is still low. I think I may need to look at the diverter but I am having trouble getting it out. My problem is that I cant get the fixture over the diverter turn thing. I dont think it comes off. There appears there is no way to get this off. Any suggestions?

Ken,

It is a diverter issue. You are a terrible photographer, but what you need to do is unscrew the chrome part that extends from the wall to the white stem thingy. Use a pipe wrench if you need it. Once it's removed, then you'll see how to unscrew the diverter. Since it's the diverter, you don't have to shut off the water. Take the diverter to the local shop, and have them change the needed parts.

I get the chorme part unscrewed but it wont fit over the Squeare thing on the end, and there is not enough room between the unscrewed chrome thing and the wall.

Ken,

The square thingy pulls of (unless there's an allen screw holding it or something). Just use some muscle.

Ken,

Don't be such a sissy! Yank on it. If it breaks, just buy another.
