Why don't all cars have mudguards?

Around here a F250 with gunrack and a CSA battle flag is more appropriate.

I'd put a hitch on the last Yaris in case I wanted to take my little flatbed trailer to Home Depot. I was going to get a set for the receiver, red to match the car of course. Being a Yaris they may have dragged on the ground...

Depending where you are in thwe world the thing that covers the wheel can be a fender, a wing, or a mudguard. The part that hits first in a colission can be a bumper or a fender or a nerf bar. The piece that attaches to the fender/wing/mudguard to stop splash can be a mudflap, mudguard, or splashguard.

The plastic liner that protects the inner part of the wing/frnder/mudguard is usually referred to as a "fender liner" on this side of the pond. Not use what the Britts/Scotts , Ozzies and Kiwis call them.

The original had fixed wings. Later copies had/have either fixed wings, which create massive drag and try to lift the front of the car at speed, or cycle wings, as they are generally known, which just cover the tyre and turn with the steering. Mine has cycle wings. Neither type is known as a mudguard.

I haven?t owned a vehicle with an exposed bumper in quite a long time.

It was an 87 Dodge Ram conversion van. Loved that truck.

I've made sure every vehicle I've owned since at least 1978 had OEM-style mud flaps. If the car didn't come with them, I added them ASAP.

My '86 F150 has a real bumper up front. The rear step bumper isn't very fashionable but is suitable for demolishing small buildings.

I thought the fixed wings were a US thing. The definitely were wings as they started to flap at around 70 mph.

Actually, to be fair, the very first ones did have cycle wings, made of metal, but they were soon changed to fixed wings.

The covers are a stupid idea, they just fall to bits if you even kick them.

Nobody ever calls that a bumper cover. Except maybe a mechanic.

Bumpers should be like that. A small collision should require nothing more than a lick of paint.

Then explain "fender bender" for small collision.

For what reason? This is like getting blood out of a stone.
