What causes an old garage door to open by itself?

Hello.

Over the last several weeks and once in a while, one of the almost 40 years old house's Genie Screw Drive Garage Door Operator Series IS, ISL, IC. garage doors (small one) had been opening by itself. It happened during early evening hours and earlier today (overnight/early morning) so far. A couple days ago, it couldn't be closed remotely and on wall. It was discovered that its big power plug was lose under the garage door machine box near the ceiling. That got fixed, but the door opening by itself still happened earlier today.

Does anyone know what can cause this and how to fix it? Thank you for reading and hopefully answering soon. :)

Thanks. I do know there are transmitters near like for TV and radio, fire department, etc. Hmm, I will have to figure out how to reprogram it.

Also, the garage door opening is only with one door (small one) not the other door (wider one).

It 's not opening "by itself". It only opens when I want it to. If you want to end this problem, use Paypal and my email address to send $500. If you do that, I won't do it anymore.
