Probably hyperbole but only looking at the 1040 rates isn't accurate either. Do you consider the 12.4% Social Security rate a tax? Unless you are self employed you only see 6.2% with your employer paying the other half. It could be argued that 6.2% isn't in your paycheck so you are paying it in the long run. If you are receiving SS, that's taxable too so you're getting nailed again. I'm still working so I get screwed twice simultaneously.

Then there is the nickle and dime taxes. How much Federal gasoline tax do you pay a year? If you have a landline, how about all those obscure add- ons? When I get my propane tank filled there are little nibbles above the price of gas, as are the non-energy fees on my electric bill.

Then there is the problem of how the taxes are used. I really don't have much interest in contributing to Zelensky's bank account, buying non- functional weapons systems to keep Lockheed, Raytheon, and the rest of the usual suspects afloat, of paying the salaries of obscure agencies that in the best case do absolutely nothing.

Unfortunately Trump didn't. You can point to many reasons including bipartisan opposition, but the fence wasn't built, the deficit wasn't reduced, and the swamp wasn't drained.

The GOP needs someone who can put Trump's rhetoric into practice but I don't see any viable candidates so far.

Years ago, I saw President Trump introduce Candace Owens to his viewers. I've been a fan of Candace ever since.

There are many fees that I think of as taxes. Car tags, car inspections, property and sales tax. Don't some areas have a 'hotel tax' ? Many other small fees that add up to a lot of what I would call tax. Special tax on beer and tobacco.

I don't really think about it. If there's enough money in my account to meet my bills and add to my savings, I'm satisfied.

Not all that much. Except for my weekly visit to my mother's (which is about 100 miles round trip), I probably don't put 40 miles a week on my car. Once she's dead, my gas consumption will plummet.

My biggest problem with Trump is the corruption. I can handle a bit here and there, but with him it was front and center all day everyday. With a new scandal every day, and some days having multiple scandals, the media couldn't report on it all and people started tuning out. Like T says, we were becoming a banana republic.

There are lots of issues and for most voters, no candidate will agree with the voter on all of them. What is he supposed to do? Not vote at all or vote for the one that over all has the best policies? So your implied objection here is faulty.

I addressed the issue of the great danger of big government to all, somehow you want to try to turn it into it only being an issue if it affects me personally, I gave you examples of that and the above which affects business and in the end I and others will pay for that too.

You're right, if it comes down to Biden vs Trump again, I will be forced to vote for Biden again because Trump is far worse. Biden didn't try to stage a coup to seize power and remain in office. Trump trampled the Constitution with his blind concern for only himself, he tried to disregard the votes of 70 mil Americans. So, if you want it to come down to that again, if that's what you Republicans insist on, that you want Trump again and you keep defending him, so be it. And if that means more migrants, I see that as being on the people who keep defending Trump, insisting they want him back again, not me and it's far less a problem that the attempted coup we witnessed. In fact the Republican Party has now sunk so low that I won't vote for any of them until they reform, it's not just Trump. The losses so far obviously haven't been enough, sadly they want more.

Even DeSantis finally admits the 2020 election was not stolen, more and more Republicans are testing the waters, starting to finally tell the truth and move away from Trump. At some point it could reach a tipping point. And I would suggest instead of worrying about ex-Republicans like me you look at what's happened to the Republican party. The Trump nuts are running it across the country, the party is spending more time attacking those Republicans that speak the truth about Trump than attacking Democrats. They are just going farther and farther into the extreme loony bin. They paid the price last election, when the big red wave never happened but they just ignored that like they ignore all losses instead of learning from it. It's only gotten worse. The party is in disarray.

As to what Trump did that was so great, we've been over that a dozen times. Yes, he boosted the economy, but that was no great thing. He did it by passing a big tax cut and increasing government spending. Any dummy can do that. The economy was actually doing OK, it didn't need govt intervention. Trump lied about that like most other things, claimed it was a terrible depression when GDP was growing. So Trump boosted it with good old Keynesian economics, something that Republicans used to argue against. It's short term, made him look good at the expense of adding another $8 tril to the national debt as we rapidly approach the point of insolvency. Of course Trump won't be in office to deal with that calamity.

Did Trump build his wall? Did Mexico pay for it? Did he put forth his proposal for comprehensive immigration reform to fix the larger problem? Did he fix the trade balance with China? Did we ever see his promised healthcare plan that was going to be lower cost, no mandate, coverage for pre-existing conditions? Did KJU, who he appeased and kissed his ass, denuclearize? So what exactly is it that Trump did that was so great? And the whole time it was one s*it show after another. He did have the migrant flow significantly reduced, but we sure paid one hell of a price for that.

I agree, she's no longer competent, she should resign, but in the grand scheme of things, it's not a huge problem and it will solve itself before long.

The reporting on this has been sloppy and not clear. That's what it looked like to me too, that she only gave limited power of attorney specific to a couple of lawsuits so her daughter can handle them. That's really not unusual, even for people that are in perfectly fine shape. It doesn't mean the person has declared themselves mentally incompetent, it can just be a convenience issue.

Interesting that while you post about this frequently, you're totally out of touch with reality. There are about a dozen whole STATES that are sanctuaries, the list of cities is extensive.
