After about 3 years of _cursing_ my Ryobi weed whacker - - for its dumb frustrating auto-line-feed design -

- and after trying several DIY < failed > attempts to disable / modify it .. Viola ! < finally > youtube provided a fix.

After the fix - I did about 20 minutes of trimming and used ~ 3/4 inch of line - the auto-line-feed would have eaten a few feet of line ! Otherwise a decent home-owner tool - the batteries match my drill-driver < the reason I bought Ryobi >

Happy whacking off - weeds that is. John T.

I've never owned a string trimmer that fed reliably over time-- several different brands, power sources, different "custom" heads, many different string brands, style, diameter-- over many years.

I've given up on the product

This fix results in manual line feed - just press the button on the spool and release as you pull on the line - gives you about 1/4 - 1/2 inch at-a-time. Works for me . I can do my whole 1/2 acre yard with 3 or 4 stops for feeds. John T.
