If it doesn't stop the transmission of the virus and allow the country to return to normal, it is not going to help the recovery of the economy.
If it doesn't stop the transmission of the virus and allow the country to return to normal, it is not going to help the recovery of the economy.
As I pointed out to you yesterday, Fauci did not say that, so that's the end of your "if".
1 + 1 = 7
OK, that figures. 190K dead, 2500 a day dying, 100K+ hospitalized, 200K new cases a day, hospitals in many areas close to their limits, the economy screwed, businesses closed, people out of work and you'd look for a better vaccine. Look for a better one, because the CMO of Moderna said that until we have more data, we can't be sure that their vaccine actually prevents people from transmitting the disease so people should behave accordingly. Even Mr. T tried to explain to you what he was saying and why. BTW, what exactly is wrong with the Pfizer vaccine?
If it stops nearly 3000 deaths a day we can get closer to normalcy though. Huge step forward. Once everyone is vaccinted transmission won't matter.
Do you think we should do nothing and let people die?
The country is at record highs with regards to new cases, hospitalizations, and deaths. It took about a year to get into a hole this deep. It's completely unreasonable to think that these vaccines, as good as they reportedly are, are going to dig us out of this mess overnight.
The personal dosage is 2 shots, or 2 jabs as they say in the UK, so we need over 600 million doses. The Trump administration ordered only 100 million doses and declined to order more when they had a chance**, so there will likely be a delay because other countries stepped up and ordered vaccines for their citizens.
**The word is that they declined to order additional doses beyond 100 million because there was no assurance at that time that they would be effective.Your world has always been black and white, where if we can't do everything we should simply do nothing. Fortunately for the rest of us, you aren't in charge of anything. We'll get over this pandemic, but it'll take time and we have to be quick to recognize and ignore people who think like you do. As a country, we should absolutely do what we can. America's response so far has been utterly embarrassing and disgusting. It's been an excellent example of what happens when we can't manage to put together a cohesive Federal response.
In fact, Fauci recommends people still wear masks and practice social distancing even after getting the vaccine, he told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union” on Sunday. “Therefore, for the foreseeable future, we will need to continue our mitigation measures, including wearing masks,” He says, noting that precautionary measures will likely last “for much of 2021.”
What do you think that means?
Everyone is not going to get vaccinated and the pie in the sky guess about effectiveness is 95%. (16.5 million more infected or dead if everyone got it). I doubt we would call that normal.
I don't need a better plan to point out the flaws in the current one. I can point out the leaks in your Flex Seal, screen door boat without having a better spray on product in my pocket.
You said it was a scam. People should avoid scams. So, just what are you saying? No one said it was perfect but sure seems better than doing nothing.
Trumps America first solution was to place orders for far less vaccine per capita that the EU, Canada, Japan or any other developed country with competent, caring leadership. Now his solution is to sign some BS exec order saying that America has to come first with vaccine delivery, knowing that he screwed up and other countries, like the UK, have orders with these companies. This will leave Biden with a terrible problem, which of course is exactly what Trump wants.
We also have to ask, where were the Democrats in Congress? They know Trump is incompetent, they consider him evil. Yet they passed $3 tril in emergency aid, left about $1 bil up to Trump to hand out? Why were they not monitoring how much vaccine was actually ordered, what the plan was?
Here is an interesting observation. Fretwell finds all kinds of fault with the vaccines, with Fauci, with the govt, with so many things. Yet have you ever seen him criticize Trump and any of the, horrible, awful things he does and says, any of the lies, he spews forth, almost every day?
He's doing double-duty since Muggles is not posting.
ROFL. I've noticed that too. She's not be around for over a month now, not since election day. Maybe she committed hari-kari, unable to deal with the Trump loss. Or maybe refusing to wear a mask or behave responsibly, she finally caught Covid and is in the hospital or dead.
I've been reading many stories about deathbed exclamations of 'I thought it was a hoax, but this is really serious" just before they died. I feel sorry for those who were duped, but not so much for the ones spreading the stupidity and then dying. Muggles liked to tell us that she was active in punishing the establishments that were being socially responsible.
My understanding, which is probably wrong or at least incomplete, was that in order to get agreement on a bill that could pass both the House and the Senate, the Democrats had to agree to after-the-fact oversight, meaning the administration could use the money however they like and Congress would eventually get to see how they used it. Once it was approved and put into play, the administration simply declined to provide information to Congress. Mnuchin's name keeps coming up in that story.
Like I say, I don't know if that's the real or complete story. I got it from a left-leaning source, so expect some bias.
The scam part is the drug companies selling a $1.5 Billion product rushed through with mediocre testing and they expect to do it again in
6-10 months with the new and improved product.
You know, now that you mention it, I recall exactly that issue at the time it was passed. IDK how it got resolved, who was allowed to see what Trump was up to or not. But still if they allowed this with no real-time oversight, it was a very big mistake.
I've been reading those stories are hoaxes.
I think it's the Pfizer version that is more effective than anyone thought at first. Even a single injection helps a lot.
I agree. You can't put that much money into the hands of shysters and not expect much of it to go missing.
Probably, but from the same sources that say Sandy Hook was a hoax and Pizzagate was real.
