Fretwell is making the absurd claim that the govt paying $100 for a vaccine will cost the government more than the cost to the govt of an economy with 8% unemployment, businesses closed or out of business permanently, 290K dead, 100K hospitalized right now, people losing their homes etc. It won't increase the deficits, it will REDUCE them. And even if it was true that it would increase the deficit, Fretwell had no concerns at all about the deficits when Trump was cutting his taxes. But when it comes to saving hundreds of thousands of lives and ending a terrible catastrophe, well then the impact on the deficit is the first thing he thinks of and then gets it backwards.

Are you willing to bet whether we are back to normal in a year? Two years?

The only ones with a degree of success are countries that could easily block the entry of the virus like islands and autocratic governments with very compliant populations. Absolutely I do. She would not have called it a hoax, lied and denied for 9 months. She would not have mocked masks, attacked science and scientists and held death rallies. She probably would not have gotten half the White House and herself infected either. And I'm sure she would have had a national plan.

It's called the airport where armed people escort you to your quarantine location and keep you there 2 weeks. Imagine trying that at JFK. I already posted the numbers for the NYC area airports and they have about 20 times the number of passengers as they have hotel rooms to hold them. I suppose we could build concentration camps.

There are a whole range of options and neither Hillary nor Biden nor anyone serious has called for locking down the whole country. The sad thing is that Trump and the Republicans have not only not had a plan, have not taken the right steps, but have actively sent out the WRONG, opposite message. Mocking masks, undermining people wearing masks, attacking governors, holding death rallies. That's why he lost.

Probably true if you live in the past and start from day zero. Not true if you look at what's happened since summer. The NYC area got infected early, before testing was available, before we knew what was going on. What did we do? As responsible states, NJ, NY, CT, MA all took hard, costly measures to limit the spread. Everything possible, masks, social distancing, closing many businesses. We not only saved lives here, we gave other states time to take responsible steps, steps based in science, to limit the spread. Sadly most states, mostly Republican states, refused to even require masks. They chose the Trump denial mode. They wasted the time we bought them. Instead of masks and social distancing, South Dakota held Sturgis, now all the states in that area are on fire. Trump held his July 4th rally at Mt Rushmore, another maskless stupid totally unnecessary act.

We did, that's why our infection rate right now is still low compared to the reckless states. Despite the fact that we're living in densely populated areas, with mass transit, etc. Where is the infection rate throught the roof? SD, ND, Utah, where people are half a mile from their nearest neighbors.
