OT: Unions lobby D.C.

Union members visited offices in Washington to promote "card check" and other measures to keep Americans working. During their visits to congressional offices, they handed out goodies, including bright yellow hard-hats.

The safety hats were made in China.

Along with that Card Check why don't they just issue shotguns to the union thugs who will have nothing to stop them from forcing unions on everyone? This is probably the worst proposed bill ever for the working people of this country. You won't have a choice, you will join the union or have the union dismember you.

Unions have long out lived their usefullness...Which is why they need this law to survive..They have destroyed nearly every industry they touch...The only union growth they've had in the last 25 years has been teachers , state and federal employees...This law is about forcing the union on Walmart , Target ,K Mart , Coscos , Home Depot , Lowes , Wallgreens , ect...They haven't had any luck with them so far , thus this law...Fortunatly it doesn't have much support from moderate Dems or Republicans In Name Only (RINO's) like Snow and Collins , ect.... Same for Barry's health care nightmare...LOL...Only the Moonbats are behind it...Neither will pass ...

That ain't the REALLY bad part. The REALLY bad part is if you hold an election and the union wins (okay WHEN the union wins) the company has a certain amount of time to settle or it would go to binding arbitration and someone other than the owner would get to decide what the owner could afford to pay.

The anti-union folks may be focusing on the wrong target. I live in a Right To Scab, er, Work state.

Having a chat with your state representatives may be a bigger payoff.

With card check there will not be any election. That is the whole point, the union will only need to force enough people to sign the cards in order to force the company to recognize the union. Unions will be free to use any means necessary to obtain the signatures needed and their past history clearly says that they will use force if necessary.

You are right on both points, the unions have outlived their usefullness and their only hope of survival is using the card check to force people to join unions. Never has our government been so willing to hand that much power to the unions and doing so will spell the end of what remains of industry centered in the US. I really hope you are right and that it won't pass but I fear the opposite. The only bright spot is that I am close enough to retirement to not have to live with the results.

The AMA and the pharmaceutical companies are well represented by well paid lobbies protecting their interests also. Like the UAW they are interested in maximizing their remuneration, not always in the public interests. Kamakure
