Well that was a nice diversion.
At least 2 schools celebrate Engineers Day on St. Patricks day (U of MN, and University of Missouri?Rolla). St Patrick is the patron saint of engineers. When he drove the snakes out of Ireland he is considered to have invented the worm drive.
